9 Ways to Improve Your Mental Health When Social Distance

Let’s face it, this whole “shelter in place” thing may be necessary but it’s far from our human nature.

We are social animals, wired for proximity.

Even your gamer friends, who only see daylight once a week, weren't ready for this.

One thing is to choose to stay. And a very different one is needed to stay.

Add to that the fact that we don’t really know how long this thing lasts and that it’s normal for your mind to move away from cutting the rope a bit.

The usual sensitive responses to long-term isolation (which we have learned from other epidemics) are:

Frustration and monotony
Fear and anxiety
Anger, frustration or annoyance
But you can fight back!

Here are some ideas for keeping your mental health as good as ever.
Micro journaling
Journaling is one of the things that helps you understand your thoughts, feelings and the world around you.

“Ordinary” journalism can be scary for most people. It can be frightening to look at a blank page and expect it to be filled with grazing for philosophical epoch-making, fine prose and a best-selling book.

Keep it simple to forget.

Just one sentence or paragraph per day. That's it.

Try:

I remember and write down the story that stood out that day.
"Benefit Search." Do you see anything good around you, something happened for which you are grateful?
One of the bonus benefits of this is that once it is over, you will have a new healthy habit installed and you will soon be able to get back to what you did during this time.

Plants indoor

Bring nature
Maybe you can't go out too much (or not at all), but that doesn't mean you can't enter nature.

Get some indoor plants, grow your own herds and even get a fish tank.

Nature and all things associated with it are proven to reduce stress, disconnect from problems and improve your mood.

Become an artist
Have you ever wanted to play a musical instrument, learn watercolor or web design?

If so, you'll be glad to know that art - and everything creative is great for your mental health.

Tapping on your artistic side relaxes you and removes frustration, it helps you focus for a few hours on something without feeling tired, but is rather enthusiastic.

So, that guitar or those dry brushes or web design course you enrolled last year (and never ended) and "lost" in creativity

Breathing
The health and psychological benefits of breathing are proven beyond this moment beyond "Which one would you try ?!"

My personal favorite is:

Wim Half Method: This is designed to give you an “oxygen high”. You will actually feel a kind of changed state.
You will suddenly feel emotional clarity, all the extra oxygen running through it is making your body tingle; It will help you sleep better and it is said to boost your immunity.
Everything you need at the moment is in this breathing method.

Accept it and "restore"

Denial will not get you anywhere. If you haven't reached your financial, or career, or travel goals this year, you're not a "failure."

Instead, embrace change. These times don’t have to be bad or good.

They are just different. And you will need different goals and habits.

News
Choose your news wisely
Not to shake up conspiracy theories, but the fact that the media will direct your internal conversation ...

If I give!

If you are stuck on news channels, news radio, news websites, think, feel and say what you think.

It's better to stay away from what's going on, but not every media outlet has an agenda.

It’s just a fact that some people will want to draw as many eyeballs and earbuds in their programs, even if it means you’re a bit crazy in the process.

No TV channel or radio station is a prescription for good or bad. It's up to you to decide.

Just pick extra! And be extra aware of how they feel about you. You will feel more frustrated, scared and frustrated as if you need a hangover ... not too much.

Instead ...

Turn to comedy
Comedy is a great unifier. Laugh if your house relationship gets a little tight, and everyone is a little "strong"!

Laughter helps you reduce stress, improve your heart health, release "feel good" chemicals, work on your abs and burn calories!

With things like Facebook “viewing teams,” you can also watch it with your best friends and turn the distance of social communication upside down on its head.

Appropriate time to quit the habit
Your mental health is greatly affected by what substances you have in your body.

So, if you ever want to quit smoking, drinking or any other abuse that could be harmful to yourself, your family or your friends ... there is no better time than now.

You can't get out to get "it" (whatever))

You probably don’t want to “do it” with your wife, kids, home nearby.

So, take it as a sign from above :)

Even if virtual recovery programs are a serious problem for you

Help someone

Can you think of anyone else who could be worse at this point?

Well, you can help your mental health by helping someone else with their mentality.

Not only will you lose focus from your own turmoil, but avoiding companionship or laughter with another person will make you feel better and stay positive the next day.

Stay nice.

It will be over, and things will get better.
